Trial Counsel Designation
Pursuant to R. 4:25-1(b)(14), in the event that a particular member or associate of a firm is to try the case, or if specified counsel is to try the case, the name should be included in the initial pleadings, and must be specifically set forth in the pretrial order.
No change in designated trial counsel may be made without the permission of the court, if the change will interfere with the trial schedule. Changes may be requested by letter. If the name of a specific trial counsel is not specifically provided, the court and opposing counsel shall have the right to expect any partner or associate of the firm to try the case when reached by the court.
